Why You Need MED-PAY.

Since January 1, 2009, all Colorado auto insurance policies have included $5,000.00 of Medical Payment Coverage (Med-Pay).

auto accidentMed-Pay benefit are paid to ambulance, emergency rooms, first responders, hospitals, and other health care providers such as chiropractors or massage therapists when you are injured in an auto accident as a driver or passenger. It doesn't matter who caused the accident, Med-Pay pays your medical bills.

Med-Pay DOES NOT Duplicate Health Insurance

Some auto insurers say that Med-Pay duplicates your health insurance - this is not true. Although most health insurance policies pay a percentage of ambulance, ER, hospital, and other accident care, many of these policies have EXTRA deductibles for auto accident injuries. Med-Pay can be used to cover the costs of deductables and co payments.

Many health insurance policies have annual limits on the number of treatments or costs for musculo-skeletal treatments. This type of treatment include chiropractic and massage which is precisely the type of care you need after an auto accident. Med-Pay doesn't have these limitations.

More Important Facts

If a car owner doesn't have Med-Pay, the driver and any passengers traveling in the car have NO BODILY INJURY COVERAGE.

Med-Pay provides $5,000.00 in medical coverage for EACH person in the vehicle, including the driver. You can purchase up to $100,000.00 worth of coverage.

The Colorado Division of Insurance estimates that $5,000.00 in Med-Pay coverage will average only $64.00 per year in premiums. This is a bargain no matter how you look at it.

Are You Covered?

You can "opt out" of buying Med-Pay coverage and some auto insurers suggest this as a way to save a few dollars on you insurance premium. Check with your insurance agent to make sure you haven't unknowingly declined Med-Pay coverage.
